Richard Petty drove his 1967 Plymouth Belvedere out on track at Darlington Raceway as an honorary pace car as a cool start to the throwback themed race. The King is so used to leading a pack of cars around the track, however, he didn’t want to come back off when the pace laps were over. The 80-year-old apparently stayed out for an extra lap and received the black flag to remove him from the race that we’re sure he was ready to dominate in his 50-year-old Plymouth. In ’67, that Belvedere took Petty to 10 straight wins and it was an awesome sight to see it out on track again.
